Ghana Technology University College GTUC (Courses) (2023)

Ghana Technology University is a private institute, which was formerly known as Ghana Telecom University College. GTUC was established in 2005 by the national telecommunication company.

Ghana Technology University College offers BSc and MSc programs for undergraduate and graduate respectively. Since GTUC is a technology school, the university offers more courses for Telecommunication Engineering and Information and Communication Technology.

Despite the fact that Ghana Technology University College is a technology school, in January 2009 the University School of Business opened. The university also offers BSc in Business and BSc in Entrepreneurship. MSc in Entrepreneurship and Technology is also offered.

Ghana Technology University College’s first set of graduates in 2006 was just 350 students. As of 2017 GTUC has increased to over 7,000 students.

The university main campus is located at Tesano section of Accra, Ghana. It also has other campuses. One is adjacent Abeka Accra, there is also a satellite campus at Nungua. GTUC also has a campus in Takoradi, Kumasi, Koforidua, and Ho.

Ghana Technology University College is in partnership with some indigenous and foreign universities. Some of which are: Aalborg University (USA), University of California, St. Mary’s College of Maryland (Denmark), The Open University (United Kingdom), Information Communication Technology (ICU) (California), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (Ghana), Wildau Institute of Technology, (Germany), AFRALTI, (Kenya).

BSc in Administration

This program is offered in all of GTUC campuses in Ghana.

Admission Requirement: candidate seeking admission must have passes in six subjects in WASSCE/SSCE including core subjects. Core subjects which include mathematics, English, integrated science or social studies. Must also have passes in at least 3 elective subjects: physics, accounting, business studies, business mathematics, French, literature, etc.

Duration: BSc in administration is a 4years program, with 8 semesters. A student is expected to complete his/her program before certificated is been attained.

BSc in Computing

Admission Requirement: candidate seeking admission must have passes in six subjects in WASSCE/SSCE including core subjects. Core subjects include Mathematics, English, Computer Science. Must also have passes in at least 3 elective subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, etc.

Summary: Computing is a wide-ranging course. Enterprise Application Development, Fundamentals of computing and mathematics, Professional Computing and Emerging Technologies. Ghana Technology Universities College partners with Staffordshire University to enable the student to get the best. BSc in Computing is Unique.

 Diploma in Information and Technology

This program is available in all satellite campus of Ghana Technology University College in Ghana.

Admission Requirements: candidate seeking admission must have passes in six subjects in WASSCE/SSCE including core subjects. Core subjects include mathematics, English, computer science. Must also have passes in at least 3 elective subjects: physics, chemistry,   geography, further mathematics, etc.

Objective: Diploma in Information and Technology is focused on educating students in the study of computer and its applications. This program helps the student to develop their ability in computing, enabling them to process data and information. Also, this program helps the student to develop their skills in solving computer problems such as programming language, information structure, and algorithms.

BSc in Procurement and Logistics

This program is available in all satellite campus of Ghana Technology University College in Ghana.

Admission Requirement: candidate seeking admission must have passes in six subjects in WASSCE/SSCE including core subjects. Core subjects which include mathematics, English, integrated science or social studies. Must also have passes in at least 3 elective subjects: physics, accounting, business studies, business mathematics, French, literature, etc.

Admission into Procurement and Logistics is carried out twice in a calendar year.

Must also have passes in at least 3 elective subjects: physics, chemistry,   geography, further mathematics, etc.

Summary: Ghana Technology University College offers this program to focus on a specialized area in the computing industry. Students who are able to complete the duration of this program will be certified as software engineers.

Students who are able to graduate with good grades will be appointed to engage in researches with the university.

Software engineering in GTUC covers lots of area in the world of the computer. The course covers area such as programming, software quality and process management, database system, networking, and also theoretical aspects of computer science.
