University of Ghana Distance Education Programme Entry Requirements
WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
General Entry Requirements
To be admitted into any of the available programmes, WASSCE/SSSCE Candidates must possess:
At least credits (A – D in SSSCE and A1 – C6 in WASSCE) in Core Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science (for Science candidates) or Social Studies (for non-Science candidates) and three elective subjects in Business / General Arts / Vocational / Science, with a total aggregate not exceeding 30. Additionally, Science candidates should possess at least a grade C6 in WASSCE / D in SSSCE in Social Studies / Life Skills and non-Science candidates should also possess at least a grade C6 in WASSCE / D in SSSCE in Core Science / Integrated Science.

Bachelor of Arts
- English Langauge, Core Mathematics & Social Studies
- Any Three Electives
- Candidates must possess at least C6 in Elective Mathematics to read Economics.
Bachelor of Arts in Administration

Mature Candidates
Entry requirements
- Candidates must be at least 25 years old at the time of application
- Candidates are required to register for, attend and complete the University of Ghana Access Course and pass the Mature Students Entrance Examination conduction by the University of Ghana
- Candidates who pass the Entrance Examination must obtain an e-voucher from designated Banks to access the University of Ghana online application form.
- The Access Course is available at the Learning Centres in the 10 regional capitals
- Admission into the course will be into Level 100 of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Administration Programmes.
Entry Requirements For Candidates Who Possess the University of Ghana Diplomas or Recognized Equivalent Diplomas
University of Ghana diploma holders or recognized equivalent diplomas, with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of at least 3.00 in any of the under-listed programmes, are eligible to apply to the same field of study and supported with two other subjects in a related field, for admission.
Additionally, such candidate must possess WASSCE / SSSCE passes in three core subjects and two electives in the appropriate subjects OR credit passes in five subjects including Science, Mathematics, and English Language at the GCE ‘O’ Level as well as passes in two subjects at the GCE ‘A’ Level.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Candidates must be holders of a Diploma in Nursing from a reputable university, with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of at least 3.00.
Additionally, such candidate must possess WASSCE / SSSCE passes in three core subjects and two electives in the appropriate subjects OR credit passes in five subjects including Science, Mathematics, and English Language at the GCE ‘O’ Level as well as passes in two subjects at the GCE ‘A’ Level.
Holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND)
Holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND) from a reputable Polytechnic with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of at least 3.25 in any of the under-listed programmes, are eligible to apply to the SAME area of study, and where required, supported with one other subjected in a related field, for admission.
Additionally, such candidate must possess WASSCE / SSSCE passes in three core subjects and two electives in the appropriate subjects OR credit passes in five subjects including Science, Mathematics, and English Language at the GCE ‘O’ Level as well as passes in two subjects at the GCE ‘A’ Level.
Diploma Programmes
General Admission Requirements
To be enrolled in a Diploma programme, the applicant must meet the following minimum requirements;
SSSCE Holders:
- Six Passes (A-D) in all subjects, including Mathematics and English Language; and
- At least three (3) of the passes must be in subjects in Business, General Arts or Science.
WASSCE Holders:
- Six Passes (A1-D7) in all subjects, including Mathematics and English Language; and
- Must have a minimum of C6 in any three (3) subjects in Business, General Arts or Science

Diploma / HND to Degree Applicants are required to scan and attach their Diploma / HND transcripts and certified copies of ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level certificates/result slips
International Students
International Students and Ghanaians applying from foreign are not required to purchase an e-voucher, however, they will also have to complete their application online.
